Sketching home
If you have Google Sketchup and a tape meter, you can sketch your home and plan for future renovations. This is a sketchup of our living room. You can see that it has wide doors and is on a split level. It also has a tall ceiling height of over 11 feet. Using the man as an estimate, you will notice that our living room isn't that big. Just the way we like it. We'll have you know that it is quite a challenge to fit furnitures into small spaces, and a family of 7 to boot. But we manage well. Everyone is a call, as opposed to a HOLLER, away. Once I've added the windows and the rooms in, you'll get a clearer picture of how small and cosy this house really is.

11 feet should be OK. The higher the ceiling the colder the house will be. My house is 12 feet.
If you also live in my area, which is Taman Guru along Lorong Karyawan 20 in Kuantan, Pahang, and have the same structure as our house, you can make use of this 3D model by downloading it from here:

Have fun and do write back how it was of use to you.
